History

ORION is the Japanese brand owned by the company Orion Electric Co. Ltd based in Fukui. The company initially specialized in supplying transistor radio sets gradually broadened its portfolio by new product categories, becoming a pioneer in the field of technology development and production of television sets.

March 1958 – Company establishment in Kobe
- Entrepreneur Narimasa Otake - founder
- Production and export of transistor radio sets

December 1958 – Inception of Orion Electric Cooperative (Osaka)
- Pocket radio – great success on the American market
- First product – 6-transisitor single-band radio

The 60’s – Trial production of tape recorders
- production development of cassette recorders
- production development of audio sets

1971 – Company relocates to Fukui
- Establishment of satellite plant in Fukui

The 70’s - production start-up of multilane radio sets
- new factories in South Korea and Taiwan

2nd half of the 70’s – TV sets production start-up
- radio sets with built-in monochromatic TV

The 80’s – production start-up of PC’s and VHS recorders
- new plants opening in Great Britain, the USA and in Thailand
- production of large-diagonal TV sets

2nd half of the 90’s - LCD TV sets production start-up
- Establishment of the next plant in Thailand

2001 - Establishment of a third Orion plant in Thailand
2006 - Establishment of an Orion Plant in Poland (Ostaszewo/ Łysomice near Toruń)
2009 - FG Poland as an Exclusive Distributor of ORION Brand in Poland
